Yesterday our book club convened to discuss the Pulitzer Prize winning novel by the late Philip Roth.

Many of his works have been made into films and it remains to be seen what place he will have in literary history.

The major themes that emerged in our discussion were human views of the past, the depiction of women and the betrayal of a child.

Any thoughts on this or other works by Roth?

  1. Likely Roth will have staying power as an American author because he was able to competently handle subject matter from which others stayed away. As a writer, I found him to be average. Eudora Welty is one of my favorite American authors.
