On Thursday I attended a screening of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire which was accompanied by a live performance of the score by the BSO.The Baltimore Symphony Orchestra at the Meyerhoff has always been one of my favorites and I was eager to take my younger sister there for this unique coming to life of one of her most cherished characters.At the time I was writing my dissertation on the first twelve novels of Javier Marías I asked my sister what she was reading.”Pam!,” she exclaimed, “you must know Harry Potter like you know Javier Marías!” It is with chuckles about this memory that we watched the movie and enjoyed the symphony.And that is how I came to know Harry Potter.Don’t worry, Berta Isla, Marías’ latest novel, still awaits.
