Semaphore

  1. A system of signaling, especially a system where a special flag is held in each hand.
  2. An apparatus for conveying information by visual signals, especially lights.

Semaphores are obviously symbolic in a way that reaches beyond words.

Learning the definition of semaphores makes me think of car races and lighthouses.
