This week I received my copy of Javier Marías’ fifteenth and latest novel, Berta Isla.
The first twelve of his novels comprised the corpus of my dissertation.
Since my defense on October 13, 2010 I have kept up with his novels by reading Los enamoramientos and Así empieza lo malo.
Javier Marías is a very prolific writer and his work extends to other genres.
His writing is highly descriptive and contains themes of human nature and limitations.
I greatly enjoy reading his novels through a philosophical framework.
Marías lives in Madrid.
His father was famous philosopher Julián Marías.
I look forward to reporting my observations on Berta Isla in a few weeks.
